It’s been a rough last three days or so.
Thursday night, I hurt my back at my son’s Little League game. It was pretty bad.
The next day, Friday, it was better. I had to work all day and then, after work, I took my son to the park to work on his pitching. We were done around 7 PM. I could have went to the gym after that – but, I didn’t want to push my back and risk it getting worse. Plus, I had some soreness in my right hip. Actually, it’s more like an annoying burning type feeling. I’ve had it for a week now, maybe longer, on and off.
Saturday morning, my son had another game. Between working on the field to get it ready – as it rained late Friday night – and pitching in the game, I got some exercise. After the game we went to the diner for a late lunch. I then came home and worked on my front lawn. My son wanted to go see some other teams play at the Little League. After dinner, we went there and didn’t get home until around 8 PM. So, I totally blew any chance to get to the gym or run.
Today, I got up early and cut the grass in our backyard. It’s about 45 minutes worth of work. But, today, for some reason, I was really laboring out there. My legs were weak.
After the grass, I took a quick shower and my family ran out to take care of errands. We hit three stores and then went to get something to eat – where I ended up over-eating.
When we got home, I had to hit the couch. I was just not feeling well – sort of light-headed, cloudy, and tired. After 30 minutes or so, I realized that I needed to go to bed. I fell asleep there and then had something strange happen – when I woke up an hour later. I thought I heard voices of people in my house who were not there. I was trying to get out of the bed – but, my muscles were not working. I had to roll out of the bed on to the floor. Somehow, I got downstairs to the backyard where my wife and kids were – outside. I opened the door, but, I could barely move my mouth and speak to explain to my wife what was going on…it was very scary.
I had some grapes and a glass of ice tea and began to feel better. Maybe it was killer hay fever from all the grass cutting and being outside in the elements between Saturday and Sunday morning? Needless to say, no trip to the gym today either.
It’s only been three days since I worked out. But, it feels like forty years. I don’t feel fit. I feel soft and doughy. I don’t like his feeling – at all. Plus, I have not been eating as well as I could – eating too much at lunch and then screwing with what I eat at night to try and balance that out.
I am just going to punt what’s happened and move on. Tomorrow, after work, I hope to go for a run. And, then, on Tuesday, I will go to the gym for a “Chest & Triceps” workout. Wednesday will be an off-day (which is good because we have Little League practice that night after work). And, then, on Thursday, I will get the gym again (for “Back & Biceps.)
Friday morning, I will do another run – and then I just need to get to the gym on Saturday, after our Little League game, for “Shoulders & Legs.” If I can get that all done, this will be a great week for me…getting back into the groove.
